Davao City, July 3, 2023 — The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office XI joined the national launching of the 2023 Nutrition Month with the theme “Healthy diet gawing affordable for all,” at the New City Atrium of the City Government of Tagum in Davao Del Norte today, July 3, 2023.

Participated by representatives from various national government agencies (NGAs), the launching program started with a press conference where programs of participating agencies related to the promotion of proper nutrition for all Filipinos were presented.

The National Nutrition Council represented by Dr. Azucena M. Dayanghirang led the opening program followed by a pledge of commitment from all NGAs present.

During the press con, DSWD Program Management Bureau Director Maricel C. Deloria presented the programs of the agency towards promoting proper nutrition for all Filipinos on behalf of the DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian.

These include the Supplementary Feeding Program, the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) which promotes the proper nutrition among Filipino families through education during Family Development Sessions (FDS), and other programs.

The DSWD FO XI representatives were the Division Chief of the Protective Services Division Ms. Gemma Dela Cruz and the Supplementary Feeding Program Unit Head, Ms. Laraine Villaver.

Deloria added that DSWD works hand-in-hand with other NGAs to comprehensively deliver programs and services toward proper nutrition for all Filipinos.

“We (DSWD) do not work alone for the promotion of our programs for proper nutrition but we work very hard with other agencies, such as the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) for the list of beneficiaries for government programs and services and the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)” Deloria said. ###
