Davao City, July 11, 2023 – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI and the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking XI (IACAT XI) visited the provinces of Davao Region for the orientation of activities and discussions on concerns for the upcoming observance of the World Day Against Trafficking (WDAT) on June 8, 13 and July 4, 2023.

DSWD XI and IACAT XI will be launching a Short Film Making Contest at the Provincial and Regional levels which aims to raise awareness and engage communities in the fight against human trafficking as part of the annual observance.

As part of the pre-event activities, the WDAT Technical Working Group recently visited Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao del Norte to advocate anti-trafficking efforts and spread information about the upcoming event.

The Short Film Making Contest offers a platform for filmmakers, artists, and activists to showcase their talents while contributing to the cause. Participants are encouraged to create films that raise awareness, promote prevention, and support the protection of potential victims.

All entries from all provinces will be screened by provincial screening committees before submission to the regional screening committee.

The IACAT XI hopes that through visual storytelling, they can reach a wider audience and foster a greater understanding of human trafficking. The winners of the contest will be recognized during the World Day Against Trafficking event. ###
