The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI recently conducted “Talakayan sa Onse,” a series of consultation dialogues with the local social welfare and development officers (LSWDOs) in Davao Region. The dialogues took place on June 15-16, June 20-21, June 22-23, and June 26-27 at the World Palace in Ecoland, Davao City.

The primary objective of the activity was to create an avenue for the Department to address pertinent issues and concerns in the implementation of social welfare and development (SWD) programs in the respective localities.

“In acknowledging the crucial role of the local government, we affirm your indispensable contribution to the successful delivery of our Department’s services. As valued partners, we firmly believe that the realization of our programs would be unattainable without your invaluable support,” expressed Atty. Vanessa Goc-ong, DSWD XI Regional Director, in her message.

Also present during the series of dialogues were Assistant Regional Director (ARD) for Administration Edmond I. Mayormita, ARD for Operations Dahlia S. Padillo, Division Chief of the Administrative Division Merlinda A. Paragamac, and OIC-Division Chief of the Policy and Plans Division Lorela M. Ramos.

The DSWD, through the Technical Assistance and Resource Augmentation (TARA) program, is mandated by law to assist LSWDOs by providing direction for the SWD sector through pertinent policies and plans; enriching SWD programs and services for individuals, families, and communities in need; and affording social protection for the poor, vulnerable, and disadvantaged sectors.
