The Department of Social Welfare and Development  (DSWD) currently has two Disaster Resource Centers in the country located at Pasay City, Metro Manila and in Mandaue City, Cebu.

As Mindanao was strongly hit with multiple typhoons and calamities in the past years, DSWD has established the need to put up a Disaster Resource Center to improve disaster response and preparedness through faster delivery of relief goods and other necessities. The two possible locations are in Davao City and Butuan City.

DSWD’s NLRMB and the VDRC were tasked to assess the feasible locations with the technical help of the WFP as part of the DSWD and WFP’s partnership. The inspection of the potential areas for the MDRC conducted yesterday is part of the feasibility study the WFP and DSWD are preparing to finalize the location of the said facility.
