DAVAO CITY (May 5, 2023) — To promote holistic wellness and development among its employees, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Region XI brought back its “Taboan sa Onse” through a Holy Mass, followed by booth displays and a food fair featuring local products from the clients, centers, beneficiaries, and employees, with Zumba and karaoke sessions in the afternoon.

“Taboan” means a marketplace where people gather to sell items such as goods and other products.

To patronize its local products among clients, centers, beneficiaries, and employees, DSWD XI invited five (5) Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) associations and three (3) Livelihood Assistance Grant beneficiaries, along with small food business owners, to display on the booth and participate in a small food fair at the DSWD XI compound situated at R. Magsaysay Avenue, cor. Suazo Street, Davao City.

The event started with a holy mass at 8:30 a.m., where birthday celebrators for the month of May were blessed by the priest.

Stalls and booths with foods, vegetables, fruits, freshly caught fish from local fishermen, and other local products were exhibited after the mass.

To promote the psychosocial well-being of the employees, the event also included zumba and karaoke sessions at 3:00 PM.

“Taboan sa Onse” will become a regular activity of the agency every first Friday of the month, which is an initiative of the Office of the Regional Director, headed by Director Atty. Vanessa B. Goc-ong. ###
