Two livelihood associations in Davao Oriental recently launched community projects under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The Pintatagan Mini-Mart PAMANA SLP Association and Mahayag Farmers (MFA) PAMANA SLP Association in Banaybanay town, Davao Oriental received cash grants amounting to P300,000 each for general merchandise and agri-vet supply micro-enterprises, respectively.

In support to the projects, officials of the local government unit (LGU) led by municipal mayor Lemuel Ian Larcia attended the blessing and ribbon cutting ceremony.

Also present were SLP provincial coordinator Jerrybelle J. Gonzales and representatives from barangay LGUs, Philippine National Police, and Armed Forces of the Philippines.

SLP aims to improve the economic well-being of the vulnerable, marginalized, and disadvantaged individuals and families by mobilizing and empowering them through the support of the LGUs and other government agencies. The program endeavours to increase the level of participation among participants and harness a deeper sense of ownership of their development.
