MALITA, DAVAO OCCIDENTAL | The DSWD Field Office XI, through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), provided Livelihood Settlement Grants (LSG) to 33 identified Former Rebels (FR) in Malita, Davao Occidental last October 12, 2022. Each beneficiary received Php 20,000.00 for their livelihood project. A total of P660,000.00 worth of funds was disbursed.

The effort was in partnership with the Provincial Local Government Unit of Davao Occidental, Department of Interior and Local Government, the Philippine National Police, and the 73rd Infantry Battalion of the Armed Forces of the Philippines which aims to build economic opportunities for former rebels through livelihood assistance and other social services.

DSWD XI Regional Director Atty. Vanessa B. Goc-ong led the turnover of the grants, together with Governor Franklin Bautista’s Chief of Staff, Ms. Marilou Borra, DILG Prov’l. Director Cristina Amoy, 73rd IB PA Commander, Lt. Col. Antonio F. Quimado, Jr., PSWDO Head Esterlita Hermosisima, and PNP PMaj. Glenn Bantillo.

DSWD was one of the lead agencies in the implementation of E.O. 70 or ‘Institutionalizing the Whole-of-Nation Approach in Attaining Inclusive and Sustainable Peace, Creating a National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict and Directing Adoption of a National Framework’.

SLP aims to improve the economic well-being of the vulnerable, marginalized, and disadvantaged individuals and families in communities by mobilizing and empowering the same through the support of the local government units and other government agencies.
