The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, through the Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP), culminated the 2022 National Nutrition Month celebration by holding various activities last July 29, 2022, at the DSWD Field Office XI compound in Davao City.

Some of the activities include a poster-making contest, a quiz bee, a jingle-making competition, a cooking contest, the distribution of vegetable seeds from the Department of Agriculture to the Field Office employees, and technical sessions on health and nutrition.

Some exhibitors were also present at the event to provide free samples of their products and services.

DSWD XI employees participated in the said activities, which were also live streamed via the Facebook page of DSWD Region XI.

The activities were designed to promote and advocate for good health and nutrition among DSWD XI employees, particularly in the midst of a global pandemic, as well as to serve as a recreational activity for the Field Office employees.

Regional Director, Atty. Vanessa Goc-ong, and Asst. Regional Director for Operations, Ronald Ryan Cui graced the celebration culmination.

National Nutrition Month is celebrated every July in the Philippines, pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 491, the Nutrition Act of the Philippines, the National Nutrition Council (NNC) leads the observance with the theme, “New Normal na Nutrisyon, Sama-Samang Gawan ng Solusyon.”

The Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) is a component of the DSWD’s contribution to the government’s Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) program, which provides food to children who are currently enrolled in daycare facilities, in addition to their regular meals. ###
