The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, through its Disaster Response and Management Division (DRMD), joined the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) XI, along with the other member agencies of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation cluster, in visiting disaster and weather monitoring facilities, last August 9, 2022.

The group visited the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) Weather Station and Calibration Center in Sasa, Davao City, and the DOST-PAGASA X-band Rain Radar in Brgy. Datu Adbul, Panabo City.

The team also visited the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) Mindanao Cluster Monitoring Center for Earthquake and Tsunami (PMCMCET) in Tugbok, Davao City.

The said field visit aimed to strengthen the member agencies’ experiential learning of the modern technologies and advancements of the DOST in disaster prevention and mitigation.

Furthermore, the activity also aimed to improve the participants’ disaster response capacity.

DSWD-DRMD leads in the coordination, mobilization, and monitoring of all the disaster response operations efforts of the different clusters. ###
