The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI through the Balik-Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa (BP2) Program, released P800K worth of cash assistance to twenty (20) families in Mawab, Davao de Oro.

Each family received P40,000 under the transitory family support package of the Program which will be used by the displaced families to purchase grocery supplies, pay utility bills, and educational expenses.

The family beneficiaries have now settled at eleven (11) different barangays in Mawab.

The distribution of cash assistance was led by Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) XI Regional Program Coordinator, Lani Cudino, and BP2 Focal, Lee Mecris Berdos.

The Department is one of the members of the Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa Council, which was created under Executive Order (EO) No. 114 to ensure “the whole-of-government action” on the implementation of the program.

Furthermore, the BP2 Program is one of the support measures that could lead to the decongestion of urban poor communities with a high incidence of COVID-19, contributing to the achievement of balanced regional development. ###
