The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, through its Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD), began its assessment on storage facilities in the local government units (LGUs) of Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro and Davao del Norte, last July 19 – 20, 2022. The said office checked on the possible prepositioning of family food packs (FFPs) and non-food items in hazard-prone areas and geographically-isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDA) to ensure timely and efficient delivery of relief items to disaster-affected families and communities.

Present during the inspections were DSWD Field Office XI Assistant Regional Director for Operations, Dir. Ronald Ryan R. Cui, and Assistant Regional Director for Administration, Ms. Merlinda A. Paragamac. They visited the possible storage facilities of the following LGUs: (1) Davao Oriental Province, (2) Tarragona, Davao Oriental, (3) Baganga, Davao Oriental, (4) Nabunturan, Davao de Oro, (5) Kapalong, Davao del Norte, and (6) Province of Davao del Norte.

Furthermore, a total of 2,000 FFPs, 100 non-food items (kitchen, family, sleeping, and hygienic kits), 10 family tents, and 10 modular tents were planned to be prepositioned in the initially identified LGUs.

DRMD XI was also set to assess possible storage facilities in the other remaining two provinces in the region, namely, Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental. The office was also to conduct a virtual discussion on the content of the Relief Prepositioning Agreement to be signed between DSWD FO XI and the LGUs.

DSWD FO XI encourages LGUs to prioritize utilizing their stockpiles.

The local prepositioning of relief items has been ordered by DSWD Secretary Erwin T. Tulfo. (July 25, 2022)
