The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI has released cash gifts worth P100,000 to the second batch of senior citizens who reached 100 years old.

Qualifying centenarians hail from the provinces of Davao del Sur (Magsaysay, Bansalan, Kiblawan, Sulop, Digos, and Sta.Cruz), Davao del Norte (IGaCoS and B.E. Dujali), and Davao de Oro (Compostela and Maco).

Witnessing the awarding of the cash gifts to the said centenarians were representatives from the local government units (LGUs), barangay officials, as well as DSWD field workers, and the Social Pension head, Ms. Maria Victoria Arancon.

Meanwhile, centenarians from Davao Oriental (Baganga), Davao del Norte (Tagum City), and Davao City are also slated to receive their cash gifts by the end of the month.

Republic Act (RA) No. 10868 or the Centenarians Act of 2016 states that all Filipinos, who have reached 100 years old and above, whether residing in the Philippines or abroad shall be honored with a Letter of Felicitation from the President of the Philippines congratulating the celebrant for his or her longevity; and a Centenarian gift in the amount of P100,000. ###
