The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI received donations of at least 650 kilograms of fish from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) XI and Bureau of Customs (BOC) last Thursday, April 7, at BFAR Regional Office, Davao City.

Said donations will benefit the clients of various residential care facilities of the agency in Davao Region.

According to BFAR Regional Director Raul Millana, these tons of fish boxes endorsed by BOC from seized misdeclared cargos were checked and certified for human consumption.

He also highlighted that this effort is in line with their commitment to the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP).

EPAHP aims to eradicate hunger, ensure food and nutrition security, and reduce poverty in urban and rural communities through the synergy and convergence of essential services of the different government agencies.

DSWD XI Assistant Regional Director for Operations Ronald Ryan R. Cui received the donated cargos on behalf of the Department and expressed his gratitude to BFAR for their assistance to the agency.

Apart from DSWD, the City Government of Davao, and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) were also recipients of the said effort. ###
