The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) XI together with various national government agencies (NGAs) conducted a community outreach program to the indigenous peoples of the Matigsalug Tribe in Sitio Pegalongan, Barangay Malamba, Marilog District, Davao City last March 21-22, 2022.

NGAs which took part in the activity include the Department of Health (DOH) XI, The 27th Infantry-Action Battalion of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Davao City Health Office (CHO), National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, and the barangay local government unit of Malamba.

Some of the services offered to the community were pediatric consultation, newborn screening, pre-natal and post-natal consultation and care, contraceptive implantation, minor surgical procedures, circumcision, dental check-ups and minor tooth extraction, and general medical assessment, as well as legal assistance.

Also, DSWD XI through its core poverty reduction programs Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) and the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) distributed three hundred (300) family food packs and seeds from the Department of Agriculture (DA) and conducted an orientation on the operation and maintenance of a water potable system, as well as a meeting with SLP beneficiaries in the area.
