The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, through the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) PAyapa at MAsaganang PamayaNAn (PAMANA) Community Driven Development Program for Indigenous People (IP-CDD) officially turned over a newly-built community access road to the barangay officials and tribal representatives of Barangay Sto. Niño, Kiblawan, Davao del Sur, last February 22, 2022.

Present during the turnover ceremony were representatives from the municipal and barangay local government unit (LGU), some tribal representatives, and KALAHI-CIDSS XI area and municipal coordinating teams, headed by Area Coordinator Johan Taculin.The new access road also comes with a single barrel box culvert which together costs Php 2,824,000, with Php 2,823,000 coming from KALAHI-CIDSS, and Php 1,600 from the Barangay.

This sub-project was made possible through the partnership of KALAHI-CIDSS PaMaNa IP-CDD, the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), and the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP), which aim to deliver basic services to IP communities by supporting the implementation of the Ancestral Domain Sustainable Development and Protection Plan (ADSDPP) as well as strengthen the partnership of local governance institutions and the Indigenous Political Structures (IPS) and build communities’ resilience to conflict.

The KALAHI-CIDSS is one of the three core social protection programs of the DSWD that uses and promotes the CDD approach to empower the citizens of local communities to actively and directly participate in local governance of identifying their needs, planning, implementing, and monitoring of projects together to address local poverty issues. ###
