DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito D. Bautista and Assistant Secretary for Specialized Programs Rhea B. Peñaflor (center) receive 17 educational tablets from Cherry Mobile Philippines Corporate Social Responsibility Manager Regin Anacay to support the education of DSWD Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth residents.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) received educational tablets from MSN Foundation, Inc., the corporate foundation of Cherry Mobile, intended for high school and college students in the DSWD Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY) in Guimaras.

DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito D. Bautista and Assistant Secretary for Specialized Programs Rhea B. Peñaflor received the donation from Cherry Mobile Philippines Corporate Social Responsibility Manager Regin Anacay in a simple turnover ceremony held at the DSWD Central Office on November 27, 2020.

The donation, composed of 17 Cherry Mobile tablets worth P3,500 each, was made possible by MSN Foundation’s partnership with Ms. Heart Evangelista-Escudero under the “BIG Heart Ph” project.

The partnership aims to provide necessary educational tool for indigent students to help them cope with the demands of the new modality of learning.

Aside from receiving tablet units, the beneficiaries will also be provided with internet access through Cherry Mobile’s CMSURF 50 promo.

DSWD’s RRCY provides prevention, diversion, and rehabilitation services to help children in conflict with the law (CICL) become citizens who contribute positively to the country. RRCY Guimaras is one of the 15 centers maintained by DSWD serving CICL.

DSWD emphasized that it acknowledges the invaluable assistance of its partners and stakeholders in the fulfillment of its mandate to the Filipino people, especially during this challenging time. ###
