Davao City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI joins the nation in celebrating women’s month with the theme “We Make Change Work for Women”, which highlights the empowerment of women as active contributors to and claimholders of development.

To officially kick-off the activity, some members of the Men Opposed to Violence Everywhere (MOVE) danced in women’s heels during the Monday convocation while others wore the same the whole day.

The month-long celebration will include free massage, haircut, manicure, and pedicure services for both men and women employees of the field office in all Fridays of the month dubbed as Pamperrific Fridays for Employees.

A forum on women’s rights and laws will also be held on March 27 with students as target participants.

“The series of activities lined up for the whole month of March ensures that the rights of women are protected and promoted through policy advocacy and empowerment activities,” Ms. Elizabeth T. Degorio of the Community-Based Services Section (CBSS) said.

DSWD is mandated by law to develop, administer, and implement programs designed to empower the disadvantaged and vulnerable sectors including women in the communities. (DSWD XI)
