DAVAO CITY, Sept. 10 (PIA) — The third phase of Listahanan (Listahanan 3) formally known as the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction will be targeting 834,729 households in Davao Region (Region XI).

Elvie Bahinting regional coordinator of Listahanan 3 said they have hired 1,905 personnel to cover the whole region, of which 1,159 are enumerators. Among these enumerators hired are indigenous people who will be able to reach far-flung communities in the region.

“We have 49 areas, regionwide, we will cover all provinces and municipalities in the region,” Bahinting said.

She said they are in close coordination with the local government units particularly the barangays to cover all poor households which were not covered in the previous Listahanan assessments.

The Listahanan is an information management system that identifies who and where the poor are in the country. The system makes available to national government agencies and other social protection stakeholders a database of poor families as reference in identifying potential beneficiaries of social protection programs particularly the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4Ps.

With Listahanan, issues of leakage (of non-poor being included) and deprivation (poor being excluded as beneficiaries) of social services will be addressed.

Bahinting said they are targeting 17,647 households in Compostela Valley, 191,659 households in Davao Del Norte, 113,584 households in Davao del Sur including Davao City, 72,067 for Davao Occidental, and 119,212 households for Davao Oriental.

Listahanan-3 is expected to start by October this year.  (PIA XI)
