Davao City (DSWD XI) – Some 561 frontrunners from the indigenous peoples (IPs) group and Pantawid Pamilya parent leaders participated in the recent three-week capability building and training on Culture Sensitivity and Salient Features of Indigenous Peoples’ Right Act (IPRA) (RA8371) in celebration of the 21st Anniversary of IPRA with the theme “Kulturang Lumadnon, Pakusgan ug Panalipdan”.

The activity was initiated by Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in partnership with National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), Department of Education (DepEd), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), and Department of Health (DOH).

The capability building was conducted in the region’s five provinces and in Davao City.

The activity aimed to capacitate and equip IP leaders and Pantawid Pamilya parent leaders and for them to develop a deeper understanding of their rights in performing their duties as community leaders and program partners.

Highlighting the activity was the cultural night where participants showcased the richness of their culture and communities through their songs, dances, drama and poetry. (DSWD)
