CENTENARIAN GIFT. The wife of a late 101-year old from Davao City receives Php 100,000.00 from Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Social Pension Unit head Lywellyn T. Bibera, in accordance with R.A. 10868 otherwise known as Centenarian Act of 2016.

Under the law, all Filipino citizens, poor or rich, who reached 100 years are entitled to receive the cash gift.  Filipinos, here and abroad who have reached the age of 100 years old prior to the effectivity of this Act, and validated prior to his/her death shall be honored and is eligible to receive the centenarian gift which shall be presented to the nearest surviving relative. In 2017, there were 107 centenarians in Davao Region who passed the DSWD validation and were awarded the cash gift. (DSWD)
