Davao City (DSWD XI) – Arriving from Jakarta Saturday dawn along with President Duterte, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Judy M. Taguiwalo visited Saturday morning blast victims who are still confined at San Pedro Hospital and Southern Philippines Medical Center.

Secretary Taguiwalo inquired on the victims’ condition and how they are coping following the horrifying incident as well as asked on status of their recuperation. She also handed over cash assistance of Php 5,000.00 each as she assured them of the Department’s support should they still require it.

She promised the victims that social workers from DSWD will continue to assist them and monitor their situation and provide after care service.

On top of the generous financial assistance promptly delivered by Davao City Government, DSWD augmented a cash aid of Php 10,000 each to families who lost a member and Php 5,000.00 to each injured victim.

Moreover, in partnership with the City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO), DSWD will conduct psycho-social interventions to affected individuals who were traumatized with the Roxas Avenue bomb explosion on the night of September 2.

DSWD records show that 14 perished and 69 sustained injuries after a bomb exploded at the massage zone of Roxas Avenue night market one week ago. (DSWD)
