GOING BANANAS. 33 Patawid Pamilya mothers of Barangay Tucal, municipality of Sarangani, Davao Occidental proudly show off their newly produced banana chips made of cardava and sab-a varieties. The community project is funded by Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in partnership with Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

The women’s training on Banana Chip Production last August was followed with provision of complete production materials to start off. Total project cost is P 258,800.00. These Pantawid Pamilya mothers are hopeful and working hard to be able to distribute and market their ‘chips’ to different places in the Philippines. SLP is a community-based capacity building program that seeks to improve the socio-economic status of family recipients. (DSWD)
