DAVAO City (DSWD XI) – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will officially present the 2015 Listahanan survey results on July 19, Tuesday, 1:00 p.m. at Grand Regal Hotel.

Expected to attend are DSWD partners and Listahanan potential database users from National Government Agencies, Provincial Local Government Units, Municipal and City Local Government Units, Civil Society Organizations, Media and the Academe.

“We will launch and present the results of Listahanan-identified poor households in Region XI from the 836,567 total households assessed,” Regional Director Mercedita P. Jabagat said.

Main speakers in the said activity are World Bank Senior Economist Pablo A. Acosta and DSWD Undersecretary Florita R. Villar.

Throughout the country, DSWD enumerated in 2015 all households in rural-classified barangays and pockets of poverty in urban-classified barangays.

Consistent with the definition of poor in Republic Act 8425, DSWD Listahanan classifies households with approximated income falling below the official provincial poverty thresholds reported by PSA (Philippine Statistical Authority) as poor.

The households were assessed based on family composition, educational attainment, occupation, features of housing structure, ownership of assets, tenure status of housing, and access to basic services or facilities like water, electricity, sanitary toilet, among others, Director Jabagat said.

Listahanan is a centralized database of targeted poor families, serving as basis in identifying beneficiaries of social protection programs and services thus minimizing wastage of resources to unintended recipients.

The Listahanan, formerly called the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) is an administrative tool that identifies who and where poor households are located. (DSWD)
