DAVAO CITY (DSWD XI) –The Regional Council on Disability Affairs (RCDA) composed of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Davao City Government, Department of Health (DOH), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Commission on Human Rights (CHR), among others, will host a Disability Forum in support to the annual observance of the 38th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week (NDPRW).

Seeking to further promote and protect the rights of persons with disability (PWD), the forum is slated on July 20, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the DOLE Activity Hall, Agdao.

According to Rebecca A. Santamaria, Assistant Regional Director for Operations of DSWD, lined up for discussion include the Convention on the Rights of Persons With Disability, Republic Act 10754 of 2016 or An Act Expanding The Benefits And Privileges of Persons With Disability, Republic Act 10524 of 2013 or An Act Expanding the Positions Reserved for Persons with Disability, and Economic Independence Program.

We are expecting some 100 PWD Leaders from all over the region to participate, Santamaria said.

NDPR Week for this year is from July 17 to 23 with the theme Karapatan ng Maykapansanan, Isakatuparan … Now Na! The theme focuses on the realization of the fundamental freedom and rights of persons with disabilities as provided for in existing international mandates and national laws. (DSWD)
