Davao City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through Kalahi-CIDSS (Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services) is set to recognize its partners in community-driven development projects through the 2nd Regional Bayani Ka Awards on Friday, February 5 at Grand Regal Hotel.
The Bayani Ka Awards is a social marketing initiative of Kalahi-CIDSS that seeks to recognize the exemplary work of program supporters and partners who pushed projects that are community-led and citizen-centered.
Bayani Ka Awards has five categories – Senior Citizen, Peace, Gender and Development, Indigenous People, and Volunteerism.
DSWD will also award the best Kalahi-CIDSS implementers at the provincial local government level as well as the municipal and barangay.
The Bayani Ka Awards aims to motivate and inspire leaders, communities, and send a message to non-profit organizations that something is being done in places where help is needed.
Mercedita P. Jabagat, DSWD XI Regional Director, said Bayani Ka Awards distinguishes the hard work of community volunteers and local government units.
“The nominees were assessed how they personified the ‘Bayanihan’ spirit by their willingness to help the people and the community, particularly toward welfare and development.”
She added community volunteers are the new generation of champions who are helping national government advocate community-driven development.
Regional winners will receive a plaque and will also share their testimonies on how Kalahi-CIDSS has changed their lives and their community.
In the same event, Ma. Annabelle S. Jabla, Kalahi-CIDSS Deputy Regional Program Manager, will update stakeholders and guests on the status of Kalahi-CIDSS projects in Region XI.
Kalahi-CIDSS is a community-driven development program of the Philippine Government aiming to empower people through sustainable development, enhanced participation in local governance, and management of poverty alleviation projects. (DSWD)
