Davao City –The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will celebrate “PaskuJuan: Salu-Salo sa Pagbabago”, a nationwide holiday festival and bazaar at NCCC Mall Activity Center, Matina on November 30, 2014, Sunday, from 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM.

The activity will start off with a Thanksgiving Mass to be attended by DSWD staff and invited guests from partner agencies and media, as well as DSWD program beneficiaries and stakeholders.

One of the biggest highlights of the event is the bazaar of products and services from various agencies and organizations: Davao del Norte Producers, Department of Trade and Industry (Davao City and Davao Oriental), Fiber Industry and Development Authority (Davao City), SOS Children’s Village, Boston Driftwood Arts and Crafts Association (BODACA), DSWD Listahanan, DSWD Centers and Institutions, Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) – Davao Oriental (Subangon Duman Makers), SLP Davao del Sur, SLP Compostela Valley, SLP Davao City, SLP Davao del Norte, Department of Agriculture and CSSDO Davao City.

Moreover, various handicraft demos and other DIY (do-it-yourself)  projects from the following craft shops will also take center stage: Amelie’s 3-craft projects (popsicle snowflake and ornaments making, mini-yarn wreaths, string Christmas tree); Wrap-it gift wrapping; IconArts personalized door plates; SLP beneficiaries’ bag and rug making; and Home for the Aged’s dishwashing liquid making and Christmas décor.

Homegrown talents from the DSWD Kural and talented family- and children- beneficiaries including DSWD family members and friends will also provide entertainment to liven up the bazaar.

For children and child-at-heart audiences, a fun-filled day also awaits. A children’s nook will be provided to offer exciting activities such as face painting while a magic show will entertain them. Children will also delight on the free ice cream and cotton candy during the event.

To give a well-deserved treat to our elderly, a Lolo and Lola’s corner will be put up complete with rocking chairs, masseuse/masseur and free flowing juice and coffee, as well as bite-size crackers.

A boodle salu-salo lunch themed “Mahalin, Pagkaing Atin” will be shared by partner agencies and other program stakeholders.

To cap the day’s fun-filled activity, a Photo Booth will be installed where families, barkadas, couples can take their selfies and groufies. A stub will be issued to each family or group that will avail of the free photo booth service. DSWD
