DAVAO City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region XI is happy to announce that its center for children known as the Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC) at J.P. Laurel Avenue, Davao City, will mark its 33rd Founding Anniversary on Friday, November 8.

“Our center has evolved from a single one-storey building then occupying the rear portion of the DSWD Regional Office compound to a three-building residential facility and currently serving 56 wards,” shares Director of DSWD Priscilla N. Razon, adding that DSWD shares this accomplishment with the numerous donors and supporters and with the very active members of the Friends of RSCC who have been helping the DSWD center respond to the needs of abandoned and neglected children.

The day-long celebration will be highlighted with a Thanksgiving Mass and the Baptism of some 17 children with DSWD personnel standing as godparents.

Recognizing the significant contribution of its partners, DSWD will confer awards on Friday to Southern Philippines Medical Center, Maharlika Foundation, Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai, Rev. Bernardo Fernandez, Atty. Emmanuel Galicia Jr., Ines Mallari, Dr. Philip Lim, Kiyohito Takigawa, Motoko Yano, Perla Reed, Yushihiro Doi and to Mr and Mrs. Lirio Dufala. The nine character awardee employees of the center will also receive citation.

RSCC provides protection and rehabilitation services to zero to six-year old neglected, abandoned, abused and exploited children, needing alternative family care. DSWD
