TAGUM City  –“As we celebrate the 36^th anniversary of the Home, we would like to express our gratefulness to all our partners and supporters who have made significant contributions in the operations of the Home through the years.” This was emphasized by head of DSWD Home for the Aged Annie L. Rosalinda.

Rosalinda cited Apex Mining Corp., PLGU Davao Del Norte, PLGU Compostela Valley, Floirendo Foundation and the Association of Friends of the Home for the Aged, Inc., as among the consistent partners of the Home. She said, “we recognize as well students of St. Mary’s College and University of Mindanao for regularly conducting community service here and all the On-Job-Training students, volunteers and registered nurses who have been faithfully serving our older persons here.”

“A lot of generous individuals visit the Home and provide the needs of our older persons. It’s a wonderful thing when people voluntarily share their time and treasure for the sake of others in need. We are always inspired by these noble acts of kindness and genuine care,” Rosalinda happily said.

DSWD Home for the Aged takes care of homeless and disadvantaged older persons from age 6o onwards. At the moment it has 58 residents being tended to by 22 staff which includes social workers, nurses, house parents and administrative personnel. Its 36^th Founding Anniversary on August 2 kicks off with a Walk For A Cause and a Thanksgiving Mass.

Rosalinda said they are lobbying to First District Representative Antonio Rafael G. Del Rosario for a larger male ward with two to three rooms to accommodate comfortably the elderly male residents which outnumber the female.

Recently, the Home received a P100,000.00-worth of donations from the Republic of Indonesia consisting of wheelchairs, pillows, toiletries, slippers, shirts, pants and biscuits.

At the moment, the older persons are made productive and earn some cash from crafting rugs, pot holders and broomsticks. DSWD
