Assistance for Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS)

The DSWD Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) Program is one of the Philippine government’s initiatives to provide immediate and temporary assistance to individuals and families who are affected by crises. The AICS is a stop-gap measure that provides financial, emotional, and psychosocial support to families and individuals who have experienced a crisis or unexpected life event. It can help them meet their basic needs in the form of food, transportation, medical, educational, and burial assistance.

Medical Assistance

This assistance helps beneficiaries shoulder hospitalization expenses, cost of medicines, other medical treatment or procedures such as implants, and laboratory procedures including but not limited to computerized tomography (CT) scan, electrocardiogram (ECG), echocardiogram (2D Echo), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and provision of assistive device. Other medical expenses, such as professional fees, may be covered.

Please note that birthing services are not covered unless the patient experiences complications during delivery, subject to the social worker’s assessment. Additionally, the patient will not be entitled to financial assistance for in-patient care unless the necessary drugs or treatments are unavailable at the hospital or are not covered by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

Funeral Assistance

This assistance helps cover funeral and related expenses. This includes, but is not limited to, costs associated with transporting the remains to the deceased’s residence or burial site, in line with the family’s customary practices, especially for Indigenous peoples and Moros.

Educational Assistance

This assistance is provided to eligible students to help cover school expenses and the costs of sending their children to school. A maximum of three (3) children per family shall be entitled to this assistance. Non-indigent students may still qualify for assistance if assessed by a social worker to have an extreme need, based on their family’s current condition, including victims of displacement and repatriated or deported Overseas Filipinos (OFs), among others.

    • Certification from Casework from rescued clients (1 original and 1 photocopy)
    • Blotter and social worker’s certification for the victims of online sexual exploitation of children (1 original and 1 photocopy)
