The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) XI convened a meeting, held on May 24, 2024, to solidify the partnership between the two agencies for the implementation of Project LAWA (Local Adaptation to Water Access) at BINHI (Breaking Insufficiency Through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) across the Davao Region.

Key stakeholders from both departments graced the meeting, including Karen C. Gayonan, the Risk Resiliency Program (RRP) Focal at DSWD XI, and Rachel M. Guerrero, Social Welfare Officer (SWO III) from the Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD). 

Representing the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region XI were Abdullah Matalam, the Regional Director, Phillen C. Larrabaster, LGMED Chief, Edgar V. Melo, PEDPU Chief, Ruby Batingal Asst. LGMED Chief, and Ralphkin Jimenez, RPO II.

The discussions were robust, focusing on aligning strategies, pooling resources, and enhancing collaborative efforts to ensure the success of Project LAWA at BINHI in the region. With a unified approach, the agencies aim to maximize the project’s impact on regional communities, particularly in addressing water access and food security challenges.

The coordination meeting represents a significant milestone in the partnership between DSWD and DILG, highlighting their shared commitment to uplifting marginalized communities.
