Davao City, August 11, 2023 — The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office XI (DSWD FO XI) conducted the Child Labor Local Registry (CLLR) System Training held at Royal Mandaya Hotel from July 26 to 28, 2023 and participated by the Strategic Helpdesks for Information, Education, Livelihood, and Other Developmental Services (SHIELD) focal persons from the local government units.

With over 37,000 child laborers in Davao Region according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) latest survey, child labor’s negative impact on dreams and fundamental rights is undeniable. DSWD FO XI innovative CLLR System Training responds to this problem by aiming to establish a robust data management system for centralized information on child labor incidents and profiles.

The said database forms the base for project planning, case monitoring, and timely interventions, with a streamlined mechanism for case managers and multidisciplinary teams.

The system’s institutional data tool will be leveraged by local government units (LGUs) to track cases and foster collaboration among agencies.

The training’s three-day agenda aimed to address LGU data management challenges, reinforcing collective efforts to eradicate child labor.

DSWD FO XI’s dedication to the battle against child labor showcases its commitment to capacity-building and a harmonious relationship with stakeholders, safeguarding the future for generations to come. ###
