The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program – National Program Management Office (4Ps-NPMO), conducted a Workshop on Strengthening Local Stakeholders’ Support for Responsive and Holistic Interventions for 4Ps Children on March 8-10, 2023 at  Park Inn by Radisson Hotel, Quezon City. This was attended by representatives from the provincial social welfare and development offices (PSWDOs) nationwide.

Region XI participants were 4Ps Regional Program Coordinator Margie G. Cabido, PSWDO Head of Davao Occidental Esterlita Hermosisima, PSWDO Head of Davao de Oro Josephine Frasco, PSWDO representative of Davao del Sur Eimmann Lumpapac, and PSWDO representative of Davao del Norte Lanny Guinit.

Participants discusses thoroughly their respective child-focused policies, programs and services, strategies and local structures involving 4Ps children.

PSWDOs revisited their existing child-focused policies, programs and services, strategies, and local structures. The activity stirred discussion among stakeholders, including the Council for the Welfare of Children, into coming up with strategies to prioritize or craft tailored-fit interventions for 4Ps children at the local level.

The said partnership workshop was crucial for the 4Ps in securing commitments and implementation of inclusive policies through sustainable programs for 4Ps children in the localities.

The provincial government, as the local structure with supervisory authority over the city and municipal governments within its territorial jurisdictions, has an important role in the fulfillment of its mandates to its constituents, including 4Ps children per the 4Ps Act, DILG-DSWD Joint Memorandum Circular No. 2022-01 and other relevant laws.

All attending PWDOs pledge their oath of commitment in partnership with the 4Ps in their implementation of inclusive policies through sustainable programs for 4Ps’ children in their respective localities.

As a program that intensifies the multi-stakeholder approach, the 4Ps embraces convergence and partnership as a strategy to ensure that the statutory commitments are achieved; collaborate with partner stakeholders to harmonize inter-agency efforts; and create a sustainable and tangible impact on program beneficiaries. Being one of the stakeholders, the local government units provide support on the ground that ultimately usher household beneficiaries to an improved well-being. ###
