The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI, through the Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) conducted a workshop on various SFP processes for regional feeding program focals, last July 6-8 and July 13-15, 2022 at the Apo View Hotel in Davao City. Participants were from Davao City, Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental.

The workshop included the proper preparation of SFP documentary forms, anthropometrics, and orientation on nutrition education and gender bias.

The activity aimed to equip the focals with the proper knowledge to facilitate SFP processes for smooth operations.

Furthermore, it also had basic nutrition and growth monitoring to highlight the significance of nutrition education, particularly for the parents of the children beneficiaries.

The activity also served as an avenue to address gender-related concerns during program implementation and the creation of gender-responsive activities, as well as train the focal persons on the proper measurement of the beneficiaries’ height and weight, and proper computation of their nutritional status, in accordance with the General Appropriations Act’s requirements on the children’s 80 percent weight improvement.

The Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) is a component of the DSWD’s contribution to the government’s Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) program, which provides food to children who are currently enrolled in daycare facilities, in addition to their normal meals. ###
