Pundaguitan, Gov. Generoso, Davao Oriental (DSWD XI) -The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) joined the province of Davao Oriental in the recent barangay outreach cum information caravan dubbed Nagkakaisang Lingkod-Bayan ng Davao Oriental Barangay Outreach Caravan held in Mati City’s isolated barangays -Lanca, Luban and Cabuaya and in barangays Lavigan and Pundaguitan in Gov. Generoso town.

Said caravan is now fast becoming a model strategy for peace and development efforts in Davao Region as other provinces have started attending just to learn the process.

The caravan brings directly basic services and development projects to the people especially in far-flung villages which are very far from vital government and private resources.

Gov. Nelson L. Dayanghirang lauded the strong and effective convergence of more than 40 participating agencies and offices from the national, provincial and local government in bringing goods and much-needed services closer to the people –especially those who are living in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) wherein the main challenge lies on accessibility.

Last August 22-23, the caravan was brought to the four villages of Caraga, namely; Caningag, San Miguel, Mercedes, and Don Leon Balante, wherein more than 5,000 residents participated and where DSWD and partner agencies also provided goods and services. (DSWD/DAVOR PIO)
