Davao City (DSWD XI) -The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) which aims to help Pantawid beneficiaries acquire necessary assets for engagement in thriving livelihoods to improve their socio-economic conditions, recently turned over 24 non-motorized bancas to 24 fisherfolks of Brgy. South Lamidan, Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental.

“Our staffs in the field know that the participants primarily depend on the province’s rich coastal and marine resources. That is why from there, we made sure that they get what they really need and that they use what is already available in their area,” SLP Davao Occidental Provincial Coordinator Arthur Diaz said during the distribution of the fishing boats last August 23.

The distribution was also attended by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) XI personnel who facilitated the registration of non-motorized boats.

SLP, Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program and Kalahi-CIDSS or Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services are the three major poverty-reduction programs of the government being spearheaded by DSWD. (DSWD)
