Director Priscilla N. Razon of DSWD signs on Tuesday the Memorandum of Agreement on the Davao International Airport (DIA) Emergency Plan. Also in photo is Director Liza R. Led by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), the Airport Emergency Plan covers 15 emergency conditions including on-airport aircraft accident, structural fire, weather standby, earthquake, aviation pandemic incident, civil disturbance, and hazardous materials incident. The plan which is one of the required documents for the ISO Certification of DIA, will enable Davao City capably and effectively respond to any airport emergency. A Full Scale Mock Emergency Exercise slated at DIA on Friday, August 28 will be attended by all national and local responding agencies in Davao City.

In his message, City Administrator Jesus Melchor V. Quitain said, “the DIA Emergency Plan will prepare the city for something which we hope will never happen. We are preparing for the worst but hoping for the best as we desire for a safe Davao City and safe airport at all times.”

Other officials who signed the MOA were from DPWH, Bureau of Fire Protection, PNP, AFP, PAF, Philippine Navy, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Red Cross, PNP-Aviation, Davao Doctors’ Hospital, Davao City Government, MIASCOR Aviation Services, Lufthansa Technik Phils, Aviation Partnership Phils, and Public Safety and Security. Barangay chairs of Angliongto, Sasa and Buhangin also inked their support as well as SilkAir, Air Asia, Cebu Pacific, and PAL. Also involved are other city key players like the Highway Patrol Group, Traffick Management Center, Central 911 and Task Force Davao.  (DSWD)
